Prof. Hervé YESOU from ICUBE Lab of the Strasbourg University (France) is involved on wetland and flood/water bodies mapping and monitoring, exploiting HR and VHR optical and SAR imagery; these actions been carried out both over European countries, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, and Asian ones, Vietnam, China, test sites. Been the European PI of ESA MOST DRAGON projects (2004- 2016), he is now lead Investigator for the Wetland-Flood” DRAGON 4 project (2016-2020) on biodiversity and water quality of Yangtze related lakes. In addition, he developed Epidemiology applications at SERTIT, working on intermediate host or vector ecosystems’ characterization in China and West Africa, Mali, Senegal, Chad. He is also carrying a R&D project for CNES on the exploitation of the Sentinel1 and Sentinel2 data flow for water bodies mapping and monitoring (2016-2018). He is also involved in the CO3D users group, helping the French Space Agency in the definition of an innovative 3D VHR mission.
Since more than 25 years EO data are exploited in the water domain to recover at least two major aspects, the water resource monitoring and the devastating floods extents and impacts retrieval. The topic of this report is focused on water resource.
